I am the dumb blonde who had a stroke. It was probably brought on by working stupid hours 52 weeks of the year for five long years, to support my business. It wasn't worth it. But, I am also a success story, something more than just a survivor. I can now walk with a fairly normal gait, and I am going to race Matt and Paul up the stairs before Christmas. The success is mine, but I have to give credit to Matt and Paul too. Choosing to meet Matt at Grange Fitness, and talk to him about the mobility I wanted to retrieve, was my best decision of 2009. Back in September I dragged my right foot and my right arm and neck were fairly locked. Just sitting on the spin bike was scary, and the stairs were a nightmare. Matt helped me tackle my physical hurdles one at a time, and they seemed huge at the time. I am doing well now, but things will never be the same, I will never be the person I was. Life has changed. And that's the crucial point. Life will always change. We cannot win by denying it has changed, or sitting around waiting in the vain hope that it may change back again. We have to embrace change, and work with it. |

In the 1970's and early 80's I competed in local cycling time trials and road races with some success, then after years of inactivity and becoming desk bound my weight shot up to 20st 1lb. So in early 2009 I quite my job and set up in business on my own (best thing I Have ever done). In March I joined Weight Watchers and at the same time I also become a member of Grange Fitness, with much hard work and loads of encouragement and help from Matt and the team I have managed to get my weight down to 15st 6lb (with a bit more to go yet). My fitness, blood pressure, body fat etc. have improved in leaps and bounds . its great being able to run up stairs again and I have a real sense of well being. Once again many thanks for giving me the encouragement and help to achieve this. |

"Having been to the gym several times a week for a number of years, I found that I needed fresh motivation and new targets to help me enjoy my work-outs and to get the most from them. MB Fitness have provided me with exactly what I was looking for - individual attention, complete encouragement making achieving goals that much easier, a more enjoyable work-out regime and a vastly heightened level of fitness I would recommend MB Fitness to anyone who is serious about improving their own fitness, irrespective of their current standards" Paul Clement Director www.ipswichcentral.com MB Fitness 2006 - present

"Mb fitness has given me the confidence to train really hard to reach the goals I set for myself, I have been taught the importance of eating well, especially when exercising, I love the environment against a bigger gym and the personal trainers are supportive, friendly and fun. Joining MB Fitness has changed how I feel about exercise, I now train twice a week, exercise outside of the gym, feel confident in myself and look forward to each session of exercise.” Kerrie Taylor Newly wed MB Fitness 2006 - present |

I started training with Matt over a year ago, having stopped smoking (again!) and being determined not to follow my usual pattern of gaining weight. It was with considerable anxiety that I made the phone call to arrange an appointment with Matt – was I going to make a complete idiot of myself, what would be expected of me and would I be constantly embarrassed by my lack of ability and fitness? After a thorough and comprehensive assessment of my health and goals for training, I felt reasonably confident that I wouldn’t be expected to do anything that was beyond my capabilities. Matt was reassuring, professional, friendly and infectiously enthusiastic and despite my initial apprehension, I thoroughly enjoyed my first session. Matt made it such fun! I quickly forgot any worries or embarrassment – I was too busy jogging, boxing, cycling, lifting weights or doing floor exercises, to mention just a few of the things we do! (Yes, I really do all these things even though I am the wrong side of 50!) Since that first session I have gone on having fun – the work-outs are never boring because the sessions are always different, while continuing to be geared to my specific goals. Matt constantly monitors that I am using the correct techniques in order to avoid any risk of injury and provides the motivation when mine is lacking! He also has an almost uncanny ability to know when to ease back and when to really push up the training levels. This is one of the many things that I have valued in Matt - he is always attentive to how I am feeling both physically and mentally and adjusts the sessions accordingly. I know that without that support and understanding I would have given up long ago! It is now over a year since I had my last cigarette and I have not gained any weight at all and am confident that I will never smoke again! I am in better shape than I have been for years – I am fitter and stronger both physically and psychologically. So, if you are reading this and wondering whether to make that phone call – do it! To book up for personal training with Matt has honestly been one of the best decisions of my life. Marilyn Reed MB Fitness 2004 - present |
